NO WARNING When you’re forged in the fire - they wanna see you burn When you walk on the wire - they wanna take their turn When the hand of desire - can only touch the flame You walk beyond this earthly gaze - you’ll never be the same CH: Try to walk on water Forget about these worldly ways When you come to face the slaughter Run like hell before you slip into the path of earthly days When you follow no warning - they’ll wanna beat you down Disappear from the mourning - oh you’ll never be found CH: - The will and the way is strong Better use it before it’s gone Because your life doesn’t live very long And your story lives on with your song

The riff that ended up becoming NO WARNING was originally written for a project that was going to have me, Bobby Liebling, Henry Vasquez, and Dave Sherman. When I was asked if I wanted to be a part of this, I immediately came up with this riff and did a demo with 2 guitar parts to a click track. I that was back in 2018. When it was obvious that the project wasn’t going to get off of the ground, I put this riff away for possible use somewhere in the future. At some point since I shelved this, I had sent it to Jono to see if he had any interest in jamming to it. After having it for a year or so, Jono used it to test out some recording gear and microphones he had bought. When I got his drum tracks I decided to go ahead and finish it. It would be the first new material we would record in almost 2 years. When I got down to the business of guitars and vocals I decided that the original demo guitars recorded in 2018 sounded great.
*gear nerd alert - If I remember correctly, I used a ‘69 Laney Supergroup, ’72 Guild S-100 and a 70’s Morley Fuzz/Wah. This guitar sound is not typical for me. I usually don’t play this saturated and fuzzy and very rarely have I used a wah. but the sound seems to be great for this riff. When I decided that the guitars were fine, I moved to lyrics and vocal melodies. In most cases I write the lyrics and melodies at the same time as I am sitting at the recorder listening to a fully constructed song. In my notes it says that I wrote the lyrics on 2/17/2021 so that would have more than likely been the same day I recorded the vocals. Once those were done I added Mellotron to the choruses and sent Sean a mix for him to track bass to. While waiting for Booth to send his bass track back to me I mixed the song and had it ready to just drop in the bass. This is called the Flexi-Mix because it is mixed and edited for the best quality on a flexi-disc. The full song has a much longer intro with some different parts but I had to cut it down to as close to 3 minutes as I could for sound quality. I also pulled in the stereo field so that it would cut to the plastic better. I’m sure the full version will end up online at some point.

about

Mos Generator Port Orchard, Washington

"If there's such a thing as fusing some soul into a doom palette, MOS GENERATOR has achieved that. Seldom will you hear an unambiguous merge between the two outside of BLACK SABBATH's "Sabotage". Mos Generator have tapped into a loud vibe featuring sinister and coarse nuances yet with something revealing far more heart". Ray Van Horn Jr.- Blabbermouth ... more
