Mos Generator appears courtesy of Listenable Records
This is the first post original lineup release for Mos Generator. My concept for MG from here on out is to explore the idea of a Mos Generator collective band using different musicians throughout the recordings, especially on split records and other short run releases. This release has 2 new songs and a leftover track that was recorded in 2008 for the aborted “Heavy Pink” album. Like the Mos Generator / Isaak split, this Lp continues to explore a different and more honest side of my songwriting and is a glimpse into future directions that the band might take even on full length “official” albums.
TR – February 2015
THERE’S NO RETURN FROM NOWHERE
This song is the last of the “Heavy Pink” sessions from 2008. The other recordings were on the MG / Isaak split and a few of the riffs ended up scattered across the last 2 albums. As with many of my more unusual musical concepts, I have no idea where this one came from. The breakdown section, in vocal melody and lyrics, takes a cue from Supertramp but then moves into an obvious nod to The Who when the synthesizers come in. There are also other musical references in the lyrics like the line “Floydian trip”. This might be the heaviest song MG has ever recorded.
