Transmissions 1
These three songs were recorded in 2008 for an album that would never be finished. We were visualizing another album like our second album, "The Late Great Planet Earth". On TLGPE we stretched our vision of heavy rock into some very unusual and dark places. During these sessions from 2008 which I call the "Heavy Pink" sessions we recorded every idea that came to us, no matter how out of our box it might have been. We recorded drum tracks for a hand full of ideas and I began building songs out of these ideas. During this time period the band decided to take a hiatus and the songs were shelved. Three years later, when we resumed writing for what would become the "Nomads" album, we decided that we should go back to our more straight ahead heavy rock style. A few riffs were resurrected for the "Electric Mountain Majesty" album, including "Breaker" and "Black Magic Mirror".

a) The Ancient Brain
This intro was directly influenced by the soundtrack from the movie "Altered States" and horror / sci-fi soundtracks in general. The synth section at the end of the track right before the next song starts was taken from a project I had recorded in 2001 called The Paranoid. It seemed to fit nicely within the concept of this track.

b) Time & Other Thieves
For Years this song had the working title of "Voimos" because of the song’s resemblance and influence by the Canadian band Voivod. Over the years I have added many overdubs to the tracks but decided to take a lot of that out of this mix and keep in fairly straight ahead with the exception of the keyboard orchestration at the end. I have always liked this song and I'm very glad that it is finally being released.
c) Outlander
There are hardly any guitars on this track. When I wrote it I was listening to a lot of soundtrack era Pink Floyd and Chris Squire's solo album "Fish Out of Water" and I was trying to emulate that orchestral rock feel with all of the vintage keyboards I own. The vocals were attempted many times over the years but I could never come up with anything I liked. I tried them again during the mixing sessions for these songs and came up with lyrics and melodies that I think work very well.

Mos Generator Port Orchard, Washington

"If there's such a thing as fusing some soul into a doom palette, MOS GENERATOR has achieved that. Seldom will you hear an unambiguous merge between the two outside of BLACK SABBATH's "Sabotage". Mos Generator have tapped into a loud vibe featuring sinister and coarse nuances yet with something revealing far more heart". Ray Van Horn Jr.- Blabbermouth ... more
